Do you know what’s lurking inside of your living room area rug? Ruthie here with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care and I’m betting that most of you don’t!
As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, area rugs act as our home’s filters. They catch everything you bring into your home - from dust and soil to pollen and germs. Rugs greedily collect these things within their fibers over time and it isn’t typically until our allergies start to act up or we see our rugs looking a little dingy that we figure it’s time for a good cleaning.
You should NEVER wait until your area rugs are starting to show traffic patterns before you have it professionally cleaned. Take a look at all the dust and dry soil that came out of one of our client’s rugs when we flipped it over during our normal inspection! The rug didn’t look very dirty on the surface, but as you can see, it was obviously holding onto a lot of soil.
Area rugs need to be professionally cleaned every 1-3 years by someone like Arizona Oriental, depending on the level of traffic in your home. Regular vacuuming will help to prevent dry soil from working into the base of your rug.
Till next time, enjoy your beautiful art for your floor and remember a clean rug is a rug that can last you a lifetime!
