OTHER RUG CARE SERVICES

Pets and insects can cause major damage to rugs with little effort and often without our even knowing it. Preventing damage is much more cost-effective than repairing them. As part of a regular of professional care and cleaning schedule, consider how we can help you to protect and preserve your beautiful rugs with these services.

INSECTS:

Most people do not realize that the number one enemy of most rugs are moths.  Why?  Because they are attracted to the scent of wool. For this reason, we provide moth proofing and fabric protection services:

Moth Proofing - We treat both sides of your rugs with a special 100% naturally child safe, pet safe and environmentally safe formula. This formula prevents moths from affecting your rugs by changing the 'taste' of the wool, making it unappealing to the insects. Your rugs are left with an odorless, colorless, and texturless protective coat that moths can't stand.

Already have Moths? Dont worry, we can proactively treat and kill moths and their larva to prevent further damage and infestation. We also offer reweaving and repair to fully restore any moth damages to your rugs.

Fabric Protector - For rugs in stain-prone areas, we offer a fiber protection treatment that is 100% child and pet safe as well as wool friendly. This odorless, colorless and textureless application seals the fiber of your rugs which allows you a window of opportunity to clean up spills and stains before they set and damage your rug.
All rugs are individually cleaned by our experienced staff, using the highest quality products in our state-of-the-art facility.

PET URINE:

Understanding Urine Damage: We love our pets and they are part of the family.  But boy can they cause problems when it comes to accidents!  Pet urine can cause permanent damage to your floors and fabrics. Pet odor can also create an unhealthy indoor environment. It is easier to remove at this point, when it is fresh. Once it dries it becomes alkaline, at this point it is more difficult to remove. The warm acid state of the urine offers a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, which begin to grow immediately.

Two Problems:

1. Stain -In the original acid state, the urine begins to oxidize and react with the carpet to create a color change, also known as urine stain. As time passes, the pet stain will become increasingly more difficult to remove, depending upon the carpet. The dye structure of the carpet may sustain permanent damage. Bear in mind that over-the-counter products (i.e. Resolve, Oxyclean, etc.) may set the stain. We recommend none of these.

2. Odor - The primary source of odor associated with urine comes from bacteria that grow abundantly in dark and warm places with a never ending food source. This bacteria growth and breakdown of the urine creates amino acids. These complex organic compounds will often work deep into the fibers until they actually become part of the fibers. At this point the odors are very difficult to remove. The waste materials and gases from the decomposing urine create an unpleasant odor. When dried urine is remoistened it gives off an ammonia gas which is extremely unpleasant. Urine odor, if it has become dormant, will sometimes "come alive" on days of high humidity. The salts and crystals that are left behind as the urine dries are hydrophilic and draw water to them. Dried urine "comes alive" during humid months because the salts are attracting moisture, and when the moisture evaporates the ammonia gas is released to the air. This is why cleaning existing urine stains may not completely remove any associated odor. In fact, it could increase the odor in the environment temporarily.

Arizona Oriental will saturate the rug with a urine liquifier and then extract contaminants from damaged oriental rugs. Amazing results can be achieved on a variety of spotting problems when combined with the professional technician s knowledge.
