Hello again, folks! Ruthie here with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care in Prescott, AZ. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked if someone can have their rug cleaned in their home. Of course this is an option, but the real question is whether or not you SHOULD have your rug cleaned in your home.
I always try to strongly discourage our clients from having their rugs cleaned in their home. There is no way to control the many different factors that go into a rug cleaning. It’s also impossible to correct any issues that may suddenly come up when cleaning in a client’s home.
Here are just some of the issues that may occur when having your area rug cleaned in your home:

Color bleed

Shrinkage

Musty odors from improper drying

Being unable to fully remove animal urine deposits
Some things just need the right conditions, environment, tools, and supplies to be able to get done properly. Cleaning area rugs is one of these things! You wouldn’t call in your mechanic to fully service your vehicle in your home, would you?
Here at Arizona Oriental, we have a fully-equipped and controlled environment that’s been perfectly set up to clean area rugs. All of our cleaning products are certified for area rugs fibers and each rug is custom-matched to a specific cleaning style and product. We’re also able to block rugs that need to be reshaped while drying (impossible to do in a client’s living room).
Everything that we do here in our specialized facility is impossible to do in a client’s home. If you’re rug is in need of a deep cleaning (if it’s been 1-3 years since the last time it was cleaned, it’s time), then it needs to come into our facility. Don’t worry if you can’t bring your rug in yourself, though, because we offer pick-up and delivery for all orders!
