Shoes vs. Bare Feet - What’s REALLY Best for Area Rugs? - Sedona AZ
Hi folks! Ruthie with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care here again and I’ve always been kind of curious about whether or not it’s better to wear shoes or go barefoot on your area rugs.
It’s been my experience that if you like to wear shoes in your home, you should have a pair at the entry door exclusively for indoor use. Leave the shoes that you’ve been running around town with at the door. You know, the ones that have been walking all over the nasty streets, stores, and parking lots that are all filled with germs and oil from the road and cars. If you can keep up the practice of only wearing your indoor shoes in your home, then you’ll keep your floors (and area rugs) cleaner longer! By the way, this also means you can go a little longer between professional rug cleanings with us at Arizona Oriental!
For those of you that prefer to keep your toes free in your home, keep in mind that our bodies naturally produce oil. Natural body oils (even without the lotions we apply to our skin) can be a big concern when it comes to staining on area rugs. You can be kind to your area rug by slipping on a pair of socks! Doing so will also help keep your rug’s fibers from soiling quite as quickly and, again, translates into being able to go longer in between professional cleanings!
So. What’s REALLY best for your area rug - wearing shoes or going barefoot? Sounds like both if you ask me!
