Hey there, folks! I’m Ruthie with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care and this is a question that I have gotten a few times from the clients who don’t think that their whole rug is dirty. Can we just clean the one end that sees traffic and obviously has the most soil?
The short answer to this question is no, we must clean the whole area rug!
There’s an old school of thought that applies here - whatever is done to one part of your rug should be done to the whole rug. This is because, in the unlikely event that a change in color happens, this change will happen evenly throughout the rug.
For those of you that may be scratching your heads at this, think of it this way: You wouldn’t just wash the part of your clothes that has the most dirt on it, would you? Of course not! When you wash your clothes, they are fully submerged in water, not just part of them.
Well, our washing process is similar to the process of washing your clothes! We fully submerge area rugs in fresh, clean water with our cleaning solutions and fully flush the rugs and dirt out until the water at the other end runs clear. There just simply isn’t an easy way to do this on just one end of your area rug.
Till next time, enjoy your beautiful art for your floor and remember a clean rug is a rug that can last you a lifetime!
