Prevent Mice Damage Disasters by Properly Storing Your Area Rugs! - Sedona AZ

Hi folks!  Ruthie here with Arizona Oriental once again and I know I’ve talked before about the precautions you should take when storing your rugs when it comes to avoiding moth infestations, but today I wanted to talk about another danger to your unprotected area rugs – mice!

Area rug fibers make GREAT nesting material for mice.  Area rugs are nice and soft and a whole unprotected area rug can provide a LOT of nesting material.  Unprotected area rugs are kind of like an open invitation to mice to take whatever they want from that rug.

The first rug shown here to the right is from one of our clients, who left this lovely silk rug in their garage unprotected.  Luckily, the mice only stole away with most of the fringes.  The damages certainly could have been much worse, much like the second rug shown below.  Unprotected in a storage unit, this rug fell victim to mice in a big way!  The fringe was stolen away along with a huge chunk of the rug.  I’m sure it made quite the nice nest for a family or two of mice, but it’s not so good news for this rug!
