Because lower-quality wool is less expensive to buy, some businesses that want to save money will buy it and mix it with various natural and synthetic filler fibers to make it strong enough to weave a rug out of it.

Longer pile shag of good quality In the first few months of its life, a Moroccan rug may shed because of the discharge of loose staple fibers or short fragments left over after the shearing process.

The quality of the wool determines how quickly the shedding stops. Higher quality wool and quality yarn production see’s the shedding stop. However, because the fibers have no intrinsic strength, the lower quality of wool and production will shed for the rest of its life.
