Prescott Valley AZ - The Great Debate: Is it Better to Wear Shoes or Go Barefoot on Your Rugs?
Haven’t you ever wondered what was better for area rugs - wearing shoes or going barefoot? I’m Ruthie with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care in Prescott and maybe I can shed a little light on that quesiton for you today.
If you like keeping your shoes on in your home, it would be best to have an exclusively indoor pair of shoes at the entry door. When you get home, take off the shoes that you’ve been wearing all over town. You know, the ones that have been up and down the nasty streets, stores, and parking lots that are filled with germs and who-knows-what! If you can keep up the practice of wearing your indoor-only shoes, then you will keep your floors (and area rug) cleaner longer! This also means you can go a little bit longer before having your rug professionally cleaned at Arizona Oriental again!
To those of you that prefer keeping your toes free, it’s important to remember that our bodies naturally produce oil. Natural body oils (not to mention the lotions we apply) can cause some serious staining to area rugs. If you slip a pair of socks over your feet, you’ll be kind to your area rugs. You’ll also help protect your rug’s fibers and, again, lengthen the time needed between professional cleanings!
So the real question is - shoes or bare feet? Sounds like both to me!
