Ruthie with Arizona Orienal & Specialty Rug Care here in Prescott AZ once again and I wanted to take today to share some photos of this area rug that suffered water damage in one of our client’s homes.  HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?

Our client’s home had a roof leak a few months before we got the call about the area rug.  Rain waters leaked through the roof and soaked the home and somehow the area rug went untouched!  They may have thought that the rug would dry in place just fine or they may not have realized it got wet in the first place.

There were parts of this area rug that sat beneath heavy furniture along the wall and that’s where the worst of the damage was done.  It was quite a bit of work to get the rug uncovered from all of the furniture in the small room the rug was located in.  When we finally were able to uncover it, we discovered that there was mold and dry rot in the rug.  It’s clear from the damages done that the rug was wet for a long time.

Rugs that don’t get dried properly and remain wet for too long can suffer from dye bleeding, musty odors, mold growth, and dry rot!

When it comes to water damage, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!  It’s always really important to not look over your area rugs when your home suffers a water damage loss.  Rugs need proper care, just like the rest of our homes!  Here at Arizona Oriental, we work closely with water damage restoration firms and it’s sad to think the damages on this lovely German rug could have been avoided.  Unfortunately, this rug suffered major damages as a consequence of going unnoticed in the water damage mitigation!
