How to Spot Clean Animal Urine from Your Area Rug – Prescott AZ

ALWAYS TEST EACH OF THESE PROCEDURES IN AN INCONSPICUOUS AREA FIRST.
STEP 1 – Remove as much of the urine as possible prior to spotting. A small stack of white paper towels or cotton cloths can be laid on top of the urine spot. Stand on this stack to allow the urine to wick up out of the rug fibers and into the towels. Repeat this step with a fresh, dry stack of towels until you aren’t lifting up any more urine.
STEP 2 – Mix a teaspoon of colorless dish soap with a cup of tepid water. Use your fingers to distribute a light amount of this solution to the rug fibers. Starting at the outer edges of the stain, work towards the center and blot up the stain. Don’t rub! Aggressive rubbing distorts rug fibers and can cause the stain to spread.
STEP 3 – Mix ¼ cup of clean household ammonia to 1 cup of water. Again, work gently towards the center and blot with care.
STEP 4 – Mix 1/3 cup of white vinegar to 2/3 cup of tepid water. As in the previous steps, use your fingers to apply the spot from the outside of the spot working towards the center. Blot when completed.
You may need to repeat these steps several times before you see real results – the key is patience!
Once you’ve removed all traces of pet urine, sprinkle plain, tepid water over the spot and blot thoroughly.
