How to Easily Get Rid of Mud from Your Area Rug - Prescott Valley AZ

How to Easily Get Rid of Mud from Your Area Rug - Prescott Valley AZ

We all know that kids and dogs seem to have no control when it comes to bringing their muddy shoes and paws into the home and walking right across your area rugs.  They never seem to listen and there’s just no way to reason with them, right?  Ruthie with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care, your local area rug cleaning experts, here and I can hopefully help you with this problem.

Here are four simple steps to remove that mud from your area rugs:

Step One: Carefully remove any solids off of your rug by carefully using the hose of your vacuum to suck up the clumps after the mud has dried.  Try to avoid making contact with the surface of your rug so you don’t accidentally force the mud deeper into your rug’s fibers.

Step Two: Mix 1 tablespoon of colorless dish soap to 1 cup of cool water.  Take a white cloth and dampen it with this cleaning solution.  In an inconspicuous spot of your rug, carefully blot this damp cloth over each of the colors to see if the dyes are unstable.  If you see that color is being transferred onto the cloth, STOP YOUR SPOTTING EFFORTS and have Arizona Oriental professionally clean your rug for you to remove the mud.

Step Three: If your rug showed that no color was being transferred from your spot testing, use the tips of your fingers and gently apply the cleaning mixture to the spot.  Move from the outer edge of the spot toward the center to keep from spreading the spot into a larger area.  Use white paper towels or cotton cloths to gently blot it up.  DO NOT SCRUB!  Scrubbing forces the dirt deeper into the fibers of the rug.  Repeat this step until you’ve achieved success in removing the mud.

Step Four: Rinse with clear water and pat dry with clean paper towels or a cotton cloth.

Hopefully these steps will help in getting rid of the mud your kids and dog tracked all over your rug  If you don’t have success with removing the spot, give Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care a call and we will take care of all your rug’s needs!

Till next time, enjoy your beautiful art for your floors and remember a clean rug is a rug that can last you a lifetime!
