Hi folks!  Ruthie here with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care again.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and loved ones.  The new year and new decade are right around the corner, and that means it’s time to start coming up with resolutions for the new year!

I love resolutions - they give us all another chance to make things right with the world and start over with the new year!  The start of the New Year is the time to shake off our “bad” habits and start something new! If you still haven’t thought of a resolution yet, I have a suggestion - have your area rugs professionally cleaned with Arizona Oriental!

I also know it can be difficult to not let yourself procrastinate on your resolutions - which can be a bad thing when it comes to your area rugs.  You may cause your rugs to suffer. So why shouldn’t you procrastinate getting your rugs professionally cleaned?

• Letting dry soil build up over the years will cause fiber damage because of the sandpaper-like effect that dry soil has on rug fibers.  Unfortunately, this does permanent and irreversible damage to rugs.

• If you have urine deposits on your rugs from animal accidents, this can cause dry rot  in the foundation fibers and also leave permanent staining.  Dry rot causes brittle fibers to crack and split, leaving holes and tears in your rugs.

• Dirty area rugs carry a LOT of allergens that you might not realize!  Everything from dust to pollen to dry soil settles in your home on the lowest level (the floor) and your area rug has been gathering and collecting all of that over the years.

• Many of our clients don’t realize how vibrant the colors in their area rug actually are until they see it after it’s been cleaned with us!  Soil covers up those colors and can make a rug look duller than it really is.

The new year is right around the corner and it’s time to start neglecting your beloved area rugs!  Rugs deserve to be cleaned, both because of their monetary and sentimental value in our homes.
