Do You Know How to Hang An Area Rug Properly?

Hi folks!  Ruthie with Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care in Prescott AZ I wanted to take a moment and share this little video about one of our client's little Navajo area rugs that she had decided she wanted to have hanging on her wall.  Not only does hanging rugs add an extra decorative element to your home, but it also protects the rug from anything that may happen while it's laying on the floor.

While hanging rugs is nothing new and it's becoming more and more popular as time goes on, you should be careful when trying to hang it yourself!  You should avoid trying to do so on your own because you may accidentally ruin your rug or create a tear that wasn't necessary to your rug.  Instead, you should ALWAYS have a professional perform any repairs or add-ons to your area rugs!  When a sleeve is professionally installed on your area rug, it's undetectable from the front of your rug and it doesn't damage it!  In the event you change your mind and decide that you want to put your rug back onto your floor, then it's easy to remove without doing any damage to your rug.

Using a sleeve to hang your rug rather than individual loops across the back also helps to evenly distribute the tension from hanging, which keeps your rug from being stretched out in various places along one end of your rug.  Sleeves are also much more aesthetically pleasing than loops because, again, you can't see them from the front side so there is nothing to distract from the front of the rug!
