Chino Valley Oriental Rug Cleaner Explains Rug Issues

Hi, it’s Ruthie from Arizona Oriental & Specialty Rug Care in Prescott AZ once again!

I recently had a customer bringing a rug to our store. She was concerned to find lots of fine, white powder under it when she raised the rug.

This rug sat on her floor at the same location under her coffee table for over ten years. Our client changed her wood floors in her living room, and before placing her rug back in place again, she wanted us to clean her rug, hoping it would stop the powdering issue.

Here you can find out why you need a Chino Valley Oriental Rug Cleaner to deal with your issues.

Chino Valley Oriental Rug Cleaner Explains Tufted Rugs

My client’s rug style is called a tufted rug. Tufted rugs are created by moving loose yarns through a cloth base.

A coat of latex glue is added to keep these loose tufts in position, followed by a piece of monk's cloth attached to the back to conceal all the glue, giving the rug a good finished look.

What so many people don’t know is also that tufted rugs aren’t meant to last for decades like hand-knotted area rugs.

The Problem with Latex

The fundamental weakness of latex rugs - After around ten years, the latex glue breaks down and gets powdery and globs together, and gradually the powder works out of the carpet and onto your floor. That’s what the customer discovered under her rug—latex intended to break down her rug tufts.

Oriental Rug Cleaner in Chino Carries Out Rug Restoration

What should we do? If a tufted area rug displays these symptoms of ageing, a rug owner has a few options—replacement or restoration.

Replacement can often be difficult, particularly if you love the rug. It's hard to find the actual dimensions, colors and pattern with the rest of your room.

In this scenario, restore your rug could be a better choice, as you will appreciate the rug for several more years to come.

To restore the rug, cut the covering and chip away the old, dried-up adhesive and wash the rug thoroughly. Then a fresh coat of latex glue and a new piece of material are stuck to the rug’s back.
