For instance, wool and silk knotted rugs do best with full submersion cleaning with fresh water and cleaning solutions specially certified to care for those fibers. With everything, however, you shouldn’t consider this a rule because there are exceptions. One such exception is color stability. Some dyes are extremely unstable and must be treated differently to keep the dyes from migrating where they shouldn’t. Another exception is some foundations that are not suitable for a full submersion washing. The better option in this instance is to do our dry cleaning method. Delicate antique rugs require a very gentle and light cleaning done with a hand tool so that there is a higher level of control over moisture and suction.
